Escape room @blood bank

Duration: 6 months

Goal
The goal of the project is to entertain donors while donating blood plasma at Sanquin Rotterdam Centre. Qualitative research showed donors were bored and too focused on the noises of their machines. This escape room stimulates and challenges its donors to finish this game before they finish donating, changing the dynamic between donor and machine noise.

High-fidelity prototype
The final prototype follows a storyline to save a patient by transferring blood products to the hospital. The product has four sides with a mission that are all connected to find the code for the lock that is on the last side. Magnets limit loose elements while providing the donor with easy-to-handle parts.

Process
The concept iterations are based on testing and rough prototypes to improve the donors’ experience. These three images are some of the iterations.
